Indiana Jones
First appeared in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), followed by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and a slew of mass market paperbacks and games.

Lara Croft
Star of the Tomb Raider games, novels, and movies (starring Angelina Jolie).

Rhys Llewellyn
Space-travelling archaeologist in stories by SF writer Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff.

Amelia Peabody
This Victorian Egyptologist and sleuth and her family are the lead characters in a series of mysteries by Elizabeth Peters.

Elizabeth Mac Pherson
Forensic anthropologist in novels by Sharyn McCrumb.

Dirk Pitt
Star of novels by Clive Cussler, Pitt is the director of special projects for the National Underwater Maritime Administration and an all-around adventurer, treasure-discoverer, and villain-thwarter. Cussler has founded the National Underwater and Marine Agency, a real-life nonprofit organization based upon the NUMA of his novels and largely funded from the royalties on Cussler's books.

River Song
River Song is an experienced companion and wife of Doctor Who (specifically the David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi doctors, although she is said to have known all of the regenerated doctors through Capaldi. Born Melody Pond and the daughter of companions Rory and Amy Pond, River is scripted as living her life backward in time in reference to the Doctor. "Spoilers" and "Hello Sweetie" are linguistic memes.
